Great Price for $5.50

Homespun Bride (The McKaslin Clan: Historical Series, Book 1) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Historical #2) Review

I was able to snag this book from the Free pages. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and its storyline. It was very nice to see a romance novel that wasn't full of steamy bedroom scenes. They just aren't my thing.

I did find that it was a bit repetative, as far as the main character goes. She just kept telling herself the same thing over and over until I wanted to reach into the book and shake her! I understood the author's intent to portray Noelle's stubborn belief that she was "damaged goods", but I think it went a little overboard and was dragged out a little too long. I also would have liked to see Thad's reaction if he found out who owned the land!

Overall, a good story, well worth the time to read.

Homespun Bride (The McKaslin Clan: Historical Series, Book 1) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Historical #2) Overview

Montana Territory in 1883 was a dangerous place--especially for a blind woman struggling to make her way through an early winter snowstorm. Undaunted, Noelle Kramer fought to remain independent. But then a runaway horse nearly plunged her into a rushing, ice-choked river, before a stranger's strong, sure hand saved her from certain death.

And yet this was no stranger. Though she could not know it, her rescuer was rancher Thad McKaslin, the man who had once loved her more than life itself. Losing her had shaken all his most deeply held beliefs. Now he wondered if the return of this strong woman was a sign that somehow he could find his way home.

Not spectacular, but a light and easy read - Ellen - Brooklyn Park, MN, United States
After reading several books that were overly serious and "downers," I found Homespun Bride to be light and rereshing. The characters were real enough for me to care abou them, but the uncomplicated plot didn't tax me either. I could understand the motives of the various characters, each one trying to protect the others in their own way. Of course, the happy ending doesn't hurt either. It was also refreshing to read of a disabled character (the female protagonist is blind) confidently learning self-sufficiency prior to meeting and falling in love with the male protagonist. It made her character stronger and less shmaltzy. This was a decent free Kindle download. I might consider others in this series.

Too much thinking - TNreader - Memphis, TN
Way too much thinking by the main characters. Pages and pages of the same thoughts over and over. Good thing this was a freebie from Amazon.

Excellent - Acworth, GA -
Brings you back to a time when life was slow and love was grand. Easy read.
