This is probably the fourth time I've read this, but the first time I've done so straight through, in order, without stopping. With each reading I learn more and have new insights. This is the essential and timeless "textbook" for students of New Thought. Powerful stuff.... whether you believe in 'god' or not, this stuff is good and it works if you allow yourself to try the principles expounded upon and then just observe what occurs... That is the whole truth of the matter.... no matter what anyone might call it... religion, god, whatever, with a Positive Mental Attitude and Focus we can each change our lives. Period.

The Science of Mind: A Philosophy, A Faith, A Way of Life Overview

This is a book for the ages.In precise and powerful prose it lays out the blueprint for the remaking of the mind and the reenchantment of the world. --Jean Houston, Ph.D., from her introduction In the early part of the twentieth century, a visionary named Ernest Holmes began a journey of exploration and research that profoundly affected thinkers throughout America. His work, based on the teachings of the great philosophers, the sacred wisdom of both Eastern and Western traditions, and the empirical nature of science, offers a philosophy of religion and psychology emphasizing the limitless potential of the human mind. Now, for the first time, The Science of Mind appears in paperback to coincide with the seventieth anniversary of Ernest Holmes's founding of the Religious Science movement. This book contains the fundamentals of Holmes's teachings and is a primary resource used by teaching centers and spiritual healers worldwide. Its universal principles apply to people of all spiritual backgrounds as they describe a higher level of existence attainable through the use of Nature's forces and the power of God. While imparting an unrivaled technique for living, Dr. Holmes's classic guide speaks clearly to a complex world caught in transition and searching for guidance.

Bubblegum New Thought-Avoid It - A. Botnick - Raleigh, NC
I took the introductory course on Religious Science and this book was used as a text. I no longer practice it. The book and religion are terrible. The book is basically an elaborate explanation and text on how to use positive thinking to try to change your life. The author Holmes was wrong on many points such as disbelieving Reincarnation. My observations of the Chaplains using this Religion is that they have very messed up lives so if it doesn't work for them it certainly won't work for the average person. A much better religion is Unity where they have a better reasoned and more effective religion. A much better Unity book I highly recommend is Lessons in Truth.

Interesting, but Old Information - Vince Furfaro -
I believe this work by Ernest Holmes was at the time of it's publication, the leading edge of thought. Viewing it from todays perspective or from our evolved consciousness, it seems like old information.
What it fails to factor in is the only Law in the Universe worth mentioning, and that is Law of Attraction. Law of Attraction is the engine behind everything you see manifest. It wasn't until I was introduced to the Abraham material by Esther Hicks, did the mechanics of the Universe make sense. The Abraham material is the CLEAREST information available on the planet today. It not only explains who we really are, but gives us tools to help us get from where we are, to where we want to be, by closing the gap. It explains that all sickness or dis-ease is only an INDICATOR of how we've been feeling. The way we feel is everything. The way we feel at any given moment is just reflecting what we're focused upon, what we're giving our attention to. Abraham's basic tenant: "You get what you think about, whether you want it or not", and "There's no such thing as exclusion"..which means anything you're talking about, looking at, giving your attention to...whether you want it or not, is going to replicate itself into your life.

Lousy Kindle Version - L. Daniel Slater -
The Science of Mind is a Great Book! Don't buy this version of it (the definitive edition!) For Fifteen dollars, you would expect it to be indexed for search and have a table of contents; but this version does not. The less expensive Kindle versions of this book are just as good.
