I am currently reading this book and find the insights very practical. Harley points out that from his years of practice, there are 10 points of friction that turn up over and over again that may lead people to look to people other than their partner for their resolution. He lists those ten points and presents the five most common points that either men or women mention that provide friction in marriage and possible solutions for each. This book should be viewed as a practical manual for communication within marriages or relationships. Some partners are receptive to communication by words and others by action. If each partner continuously looks for ways to affirm their commitment to the other partner in ways that are meaningful to that partner, any relationship will be long lasting. This book should not be viewed as a panacea or that the items presented are the only things that are really important for a successful relationship. It is simply a practical starting point.

This book really lays out each topic on emotional needs well and allows you to rank the top five needs each of you have. I really think that the committment to work through this book with one another makes you spend time with one another in one way or the other. I recommend working through Love Busters first so that you eliminate the behaviors that destroy Romantic Love before you start bulding up your Romantic Love with your partner. The Love Bank concept works well and is something you and your spouse will laugh about daily. My wife and I are always looking for our Love Tokens and are very mindful of any withdrawls from our Love Bank. Just read the book and you will understand this. This will help your Marriage if both of you are committed to making a difference in your Marriage. It addresses more than just insight into your problems. This book helps you formulate a plan, implement it, and evaluate it.
